Bioactive Compound

D-Ribose

A naturally occurring sugar that fuels cellular ATP regeneration and supports heart and muscle recovery.

What It Is

D-Ribose is a five-carbon monosaccharide and the structural backbone of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) — the primary energy currency of every cell. The body produces ribose via the pentose phosphate pathway, but this process is slow and rate-limited, particularly in cardiac and skeletal muscle following ischaemia, intense exercise, or illness. IV D-Ribose rapidly replenishes the ATP pool, making it clinically relevant in cardiac rehabilitation, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and high-performance sports recovery. It also contributes to NAD+ synthesis, which underpins cellular energy regulation and skin health.

What It Does

  • Supports heart health and cardiac energy (ATP) metabolism
  • Accelerates muscle recovery after intense exercise or illness
  • Improves exercise performance and reduces fatigue
  • Enhances energy metabolism — direct substrate for ATP regeneration
  • Supports skin radiance via NAD+ pathway contribution

Clinical Considerations

May lower blood glucose — use with caution in patients on hypoglycaemic agents or with diabetes. Blood glucose monitoring recommended. Standard clinical assessment applies.
