Dexpanthenol (Provitamin B5)
The active precursor to pantothenic acid (B5) — accelerates tissue repair, supports skin regeneration, and aids gut healing.
What It Is
Dexpanthenol is the alcohol form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and is rapidly converted to pantothenic acid within cells. It is the most bioavailable form of B5 for IV administration. As a component of coenzyme A (CoA), it is essential for the Krebs cycle (cellular energy), fatty acid synthesis, and — critically — the production of cortisol (stress response) and acetylcholine (nerve-muscle signalling). Topically and systemically, dexpanthenol is well established for accelerating epithelial healing, wound repair, and colitis management.
What It Does
- Accelerates skin cell healing, regeneration, and wound repair
- Supports gastrointestinal tissue healing — colitis and mucosal repair
- Essential for adrenal cortisol synthesis (stress response)
- Cofactor for Krebs cycle energy production
- Supports ocular tissue repair and maintenance
Clinical Considerations
Excellent safety profile. Well tolerated intravenously. A standard clinical pre-treatment screening applies.
